A former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon Madaki Ahmed Gololo, has been elected as one of the 20 new local government chairmen in Bauchi State, following the recent local government elections where all 20 candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious.... Madaki, who represented the Gamawa Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, was sworn in alongside 19 others yesterday.
Among the elected officials are Hajara Gidado, former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, who was elected as Chairperson of Itas/Gadau, and Amina Musa, who was elected as the female Deputy Chairperson for Darazo.
The Chief Judge, Justice Rabiu Talatu Umar, administered the oath of office and oath of allegiance to them at the Government House Just after the newly elected officials received their certificates of return from the State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC on Sunday.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, the Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Mahmoud Babamaji, acknowledged the responsibilities at the grassroots level with the recent local government autonomy.
“We recognize that the state cannot function without the Federal Government, and we will work closely with the state to bring the necessary development,” he stated.
