Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has reacted to a video of some elders embarking on a walk on the streets of Lagos, protesting against the nationwide protest against hunger in Nigeria.

The video showed the men dressed in white clothes as they chanted “no protest,” “We will not allow anybody to protest. No more protest.”

This comes after Nigerians across the country cried out about hardship and insisted on protesting for ten days, beginning on August 1, 2024, against bad governance, inflation, insecurity, and the high cost of living.

As a result, the government, politicians, individuals and groups have urged the youths not to protest and allow President Bola Tinubu more time to resolve the crisis.

The youths have since refused to stand down as they prepare for the protest.

Reacting to the viral video, Sowore describe the elders as failed and wasted who have been assembled by Tinubu’s handlers.

According to the activist, the elderly men sold other generations down the river by asking others not to protest.

He raised concerns over the refusal of the Lagos state government to provide security for the upcoming protest but a MOPOL van could be seen accompanying these failed elders protesting against the youths.

He wrote on X, “This is the failed/wasted generation of Lagos “elders” cobbled together by @officialabat handlers, they’re the elderly men who sold other generations down the river “protesting” while they said others should not protest! While the IG of @Policeng claimed today that he could not provide security for peaceful marchers for #EndBadGovernaceProtest you could see a @policeng MOPOL van accompanying these failed elders demonstrating on the streets of Lagos.
