Finally Finnish court approves Simon Ekpa’s extradition, announces his return date to Nigeria

The extradition of the factional leader of the Biafra agitators, Simon Ekpa has been approved by the Finnish Court. In a ruling the Päijät-Häme District Court in Lahti on April 18, Ekpa is due to be extradited to Nigeria on July 15, 2025.

Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafran nation was arrested in November 2024 by security operatives in Finland.

The Finnish authorities said Ekpa was arrested for alleged acts of terrorism and orchestrating unrest in the Nigeria using his several social media accounts.

While he claims to be a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which is currently been led by Nnamdi Kanu, member and leaders of the group have on several occasions, distanced themselves from Ekpa’s utterances and actions.
