Uba was killed following an ambush on his convoy by the terrorists on Friday, November 14.
He was leading a team of officers of the force and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) when the terrorists launched an attack on their convoy along the Damboa-Biu axis.
According to sources, four operatives—two soldiers and two CJTF officials – were killed instantly. At the same time, General Musa who earlier escaped the attack was said to have been recaptured by the terrorists and was killed after a failed rescue mission by the Military’s Air Component.
While the Nigerian Military is yet to speak on his killing, President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday confirmed the General’s death.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Tinubu condoled with the Military over Uba’s death.
He said, “President Tinubu also sent his condolences to the military over the death of the gallant soldiers and Brigadier General Musa Uba, who paid the ultimate price while on active duty fighting insurgents in Borno state.”
In the same statement, the president reacted to the recent abduction of 25 school girls from a Government Girls Secondary School in Maga community’s Kebbi State.
Onanuga also noted that the president has assured Nigerians and families of the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls of the government’s commitment to rescue the girls.Video/Continue Reading
