The man identified as Musa Bello was arrested in the Amuloko area of Ibadan.
In a video that has emerged on social media, the suspect was caught with the human parts in a sack. His suspicious behaviour drew the attention of passersby who later apprehended him and discovered what he was conveying.
He revealed when he was being questioned that he was part of a syndicate who are involved in the sale of human body parts.
He has since been handed over to the Oyo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Earlier in July, a man identified as Nuhu Ezra was also nabbed by the police in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory after being caught with a human skull and bones.
His arrest was disclosed in a statement by Josephine Adeh, FCT Command Police Public Relations Officer, who said the police acted on credible intelligence in trailing and arresting the suspect.
She disclosed that the suspect said he found the human skull and bones in the bush while hunting in the Kuje area of the territory, and confessed that he had the intention to sell the body parts for six hundred thousand naira (N600,000), reports SaharaReporters.
The statement reads in part, “The operatives of the FCT police command attached to Iddo police division on July 9, 2024, at about 9:00 p.m., acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested one Nuhu Ezra ‘m’ of Gosa Kipikipi village, Lugbe, Abuja, with a human skull and bones.
“The suspect, who was found with the body parts upon interrogation, stated that he picked them up from the bush while hunting at Kuje and had the intention to sell the body parts for six hundred thousand naira (N600,000),” the statement added.
