‘He has to wait’ — NFF sends strong message on Chelle’s future

Amid the uncertainties surrounding the future of Eric Chelle, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has assured that the Malian tactician will not leave his role as head coach of Super Eagles.

NFF president Ibrahim Gusau has set the record straight, stating that the 48-year-old has a year left on his current deal with the federation and enjoys working with the team.

Chelle has been linked to quite a number of jobs on the continent following his remarkable run with the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

“We still have a one-year contract with Eric (Chelle) and no matter what, he has to wait until his contract expires,” Gusau said, according to SoccerNet.

“And we don’t want to bring distraction to him, because we understand that he enjoys working with Nigeria.

“It’s not the issue of the money, but will he achieve what he wants to achieve in his career?”
