‘I don’t know where that is coming from’, Lagos Speaker Meranda denies resignation claim

Mojisola Meranda, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly has denied claims that she has resigned from her controversial position.

The denial from Meranda comes hours after there were claims that she had resigned from the Speakership position following the crisis rocking the Lagos State Assembly since the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa, her predecessor.

Also, a circular allegedly released by Meranda on Monday, February 17, suggested that Meranda has resigned from her position.

Although checks show that the circular was not signed by Meranda or anyone at all, the notice has continued to trend online.

Reacting to the claims, Segun Ajiboye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos Speaker on Wednesday, February 19, said Meranda is still the Speaker of the House.

Ajiboye said, “I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from.”
