In a recent podcast interview, the singer reflected on the passing of his father, whom he described as his “best friend,” and how that profound loss—alongside other family tragedies—shaped the heartfelt tribute track.

“When my dad was alive, he was my best friend,” Kizz Daniel shared. “Al-Jannah means paradise. I wanted to create a song that honors not just him, but all the loved ones we’ve lost.”
The singer revealed that the song draws from years of personal grief, including the death of his father in 2015—just days after his 21st birthday—and the devastating loss of his son in 2021.
“My wife lost her mum this year. I also lost my stepmother. We’ve lost a lot of people,” he said. “So I didn’t want the song to be about just one person. It’s a tribute to everyone we’ve loved and lost on this journey through life.”
Kizz Daniel explained that he deliberately used the word friend in the lyrics to create a universal message of remembrance and connection—something that anyone grieving can relate to.
