I want to be the first African to coach Real Madrid — Eric Chelle

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has revealed his ambition to manage Spanish giants Real Madrid in the future.

The Malian tactician has established himself as one of the top coaches on the African continent after guiding Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 47-year-old has since been linked with a number of coaching roles across the continent following an impressive outing with the Super Eagles at the tournament in Morocco.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with RMC Sport, Chelle disclosed that he dreams of becoming the first African to coach the European heavyweights.

“My dream is to become the first African coach to manage Real Madrid,” Chelle told RMC Sport.

Eric Chelle was appointed head coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in January 2024.
