Ikorodu to perform traditional rites, urges residents to stay indoors or risk ancestors’ wrath

The Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Abdulkabir Adewale Shotobi Adeogunsen V., has informed the public about a traditional rite, otherwise known as Etutu.

The Eluku Diety Chiefs will perform rites from 10:30 PM to 5:30 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, and Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

A notice from one of the kingdom’s chiefs stated that the rite is intended to usher in prayers for Ikorodu Main Town, adding that it is “for the benefit of all indigenes and good citizens of Ikorodu, as well as the people of Lagos State in general.”

A warning is issued for those who will not participate in the Etutu to stay in their homes during the specified times to avoid “the Annoyance of the Ancestors.”

The announcement is made by High Chief Murisiku Olabanji Oreagba, The Olumale Eluku of Ikorodu Kingdom.
