Reacting to his appointment, Aluko expressed his elation and commitment.
It’s a real privilege to start the next phase of my career by joining the first-team coaching staff here at the club,” Aluko told the club’s website.

“Learning from the Manager and all the coaching staff here is a fantastic opportunity for me. It is a great time to be at Ipswich, and I’m looking forward to helping the squad continue to learn and take on the challenge of the Premier League.”

Aluko had a brief but memorable international stint with Nigeria, progressing through the U20 and U23 levels before earning his full international cap in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland on May 29, 2009.

He narrowly missed out on the AFCON 2013 squad due to an Achilles injury. He was capped 7 times and scored 2 goals.
