A former governor of Abia State, and serving Senator, Orji Uzor-Kalu has described the passing of Pope Francis as a monumental loss to the Christian community and the world at large.

In a statement personally signed by the lawmaker, the late Pope was a beacon of hope and humility.

He said the attributes exhibited by the Catholic pontiff trickled to the billions of lives across the world.

“The passing of Pope Francis is a monumental loss to the Christian faith and the world at large.

“He was a true shepherd of peace, love, and compassion. His messages of unity and selfless service resonated deeply with both the faithful and those outside the Catholic Church,” Uzor-Kalu said.

Stating that the late Pope’s committment to justice would serve as an everlasting guide to the world, Uzor-Kalu extended his condolence to the Vatican, the Catholic church among others.

He said, “As we mourn the loss of this great spiritual leader, we pray for the repose of his soul and for strength to the global Catholic community during this difficult time.”
