The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Rivers state chapter described the exclusion as an act of marginalisation from the mainstream Igbo nation.
A press statement signed by Chief Dike Chimenem Eze.l, the Ohiakaraka 1 of Apara Kingdom, Obio-Akpor local government area reads, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Rivers State feels deeply disenchanted and disappointed regarding her continued marginalization by the Ohanaeze National Executive Committee.
He said : ” The latest is our marginalization in the Burial Committee of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyawu (Ahaejiagamba), deceased Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General.
“Indeed, its inexplicably apalling that out a list of 128 persons, only one person was deemed fit to make the list – Chief Lucky Achinihu Ikeji, Rivers State President of Ohanaeze. Igbo sịkwa, “Onye agbala nwanne ya” maka “e mee nwata ka e mere ibe ya obi adị ya mma”.
“Nevertheless, we are Igbos and remain Igbos. No matter the marginalization nobody can remove the IGBO blood in us. Those going before equity should please endeavour to do so with clean hands. Mathematically, out of 128 If divided by 7, each state should have 15, the remaining number can be shared among VIPs. This arrangement gives all states a sense of belonging in a matter that concerns the burial of such a great leader of Ndigbo, if we say we’re one Indivisible family. “
He asserted that the exclusion of Ohanaeze Rivers State chapter gives the impression of an orchestrated plan to deliberately undermine Ohanaeze Rivers State. Whereas there several prominent Igbo Rivers state people who are supposed to belong to the committee.
His words, “There are several Igbo speaking Rivers VIPs who have identified with Ohanaeze Ndigbo that can be added to the committee such as their Excellencies Chibuike Amechi, Celestine Ngọzi Omehia, Chibudom Nwuche, etc . Besides, there are key individuals from Rivers State who have served or are serving Ohanaeze Ndigbo in various capacities. Why were they all forgotten?
“We call for a change of heart on issues concerning Ohanaeze Rivers because our love, commitment and attachment to Ndigbo remains irrevocable since we are bound by blood, as God the Creator does not make mistakes.
” He remains THE All KNOWING GOD whose infinite knowledge is eternal and unquestionable.
Let reason prevail among brothers,” he said.
