Szczesny has been selected to be in between the sticks for the Catalan club in recent matches ahead of Inaki Pena.
Pena was the preferred choice in post for Hansi Flick after Marc Andre ter Stegen’s injury in September.
However, Flick dropped the Spanish international for the experienced Szczesny going forward.
“Szczesny is our first goalkeeper now, it’s confirmed,” Flick said ahead of Barcelona’s Copa del Rey clash against Valencia.
“It’s not just about Iñaki or Szczesny, but about the whole team, and we always make decisions that are in the best interest of the team, and that is the approach I want to follow”.
Barcelona is yet to lose a game with Szczesny in between the sticks.
