PUNCH Online reports that Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibada land, has now confirmed that Ladoja will be crowned on Monday.
The former governor would be presented with a crown befitting his status as Otun Olubadan at the inaugural meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to be presided over by Oba Olakulehin.
“Yes. He received the letter on Friday evening that the crown befitting of his status as Otun Olubadan will be presented to him at the inaugural meeting of Olubadan-in-Council to be presided over by Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on Monday,12th August, at the new Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan. The meeting will start at 12.00 noon,” a source told Leadership.
Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan, had earlier rejected the beaded crown when the late Oba Lekan Balogun crowned other members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
He also dragged the Oyo State government and the Olubadan-in Council to court over the development, which was later resolved.
The former governor insisted that there was no rancour within members of the Olubadan-in-council, maintaining that the elevated Obas were all his friends.
However, Ladoja made a U-turn last week Sunday during a radio interview when he announced that he would accept to wear a beaded crown as part of the new requirements to ascend the coveted throne of Olubadan.
