Let’s not sleep until we remove the tyrant in govt – El-Rufai tells Atiku

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has urged members of the opposition not to sleep until they remove the tyrant in government.

El-Rufai said this during a discussion with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, shortly after he evaded arrest by security agents.

“We must not sleep between now and March 2027 until we remove the tyrant government from power,” El-Rufai told Atiku.

Meanwhile, El-Rufai has blamed National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for the attempt by security agencies to arrest him on Thursday.

MyNigeria reported that the former governor was almost arrested at the airport on arrival from Cairo, Egypt.

His passport was seized by security agencies, whom he said had no warrant to show for his arrest.

He said operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, working with the Department of State Services, DSS, and not the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, confronted him at the airport and attempted to take him into custody.

“It turned out that it’s the ICPC that procured DSS to abduct me and hades me over to them. The ICPC has never invited me.

“We just understand that it’s the ICPC not EFCC that’s responsible for what happened today and the ICPC chairman is acting of the direct order of Nuhu Ribadu,” El-Rufai said.
