Salah gave Liverpool the lead inside the opening 15 minutes after being played through on goal by Harvey Elliott. Carvalho then doubled Liverpool’s lead with a sublime first-time finish after another fantastic assist from Elliott. Havertz pulled a goal back for Arsenal towards the end of the first half. Liverpool saw the game out to take victory after a win in the opening game of their US tour against Real Betis in Pittsburgh.
Arsenal will now fly home whilst Liverpool complete their US tour on the weekend against Manchester United. There was a minute’s silence before the game to pay respect to the victims of the attacks in Southport.
