Man arrested by Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) for hitting child and stepping on woman’s neck

According to a release from the JCPD, Aaron Thomas, 29, of Johnson City, was charged with aggravated assault following the incident, which took place June 29 shortly after 1 a.m. at 3406 West Market Street, the Park n’ Stay Inn.

The release said officers responded to the motel regarding a domestic disturbance, where they discovered Thomas had allegedly strangled a woman by “holding his foot on her neck” and had hit her child.

The JCPD said the woman and child were able to get to safety.

Thomas was transported to the Washington County Detention Center. The JCPD did not provide a bond amount.
