A man has been arrested in Trenance Park, KwaZulu-Natal, after allegedly attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old boy at knifepoint on Thursday afternoon.

Terrifying Chase Through Neighborhood

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to multiple distress calls from residents in Marula Circle, reporting that a man was chasing a child and had forced his way into a home. Reports also indicated the suspect was armed.

When RUSA officers arrived at 15:32, they found an injured resident outside the home, who confirmed that the suspect had broken in and was armed with a knife.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had followed the Grade 9 pupil from a school in Phoenix. Sensing danger, the child avoided his own home and ran into a stranger’s house for safety.

The suspect followed him inside, attacking a man and woman who tried to intervene. The male victim suffered head injuries after being assaulted with a steel lock and broken bottle.

Suspect Targeted a Police Officer’s Home

Shockingly, the house belonged to a Colonel from the South African Police Service (SAPS). Fortunately, the child escaped unharmed.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon, while authorities commend the quick response of the community and security forces.
