In her video, the stunner revealed how she makes a DIY face mask, which contains one tablespoon of ground coffee, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric, one tablespoon of liquid honey, as well as one tablespoon of Aloe Vera gel (available on Amazon, as well as Holland & Barrett).

One all the ingredients have been mixed together in a small bowl, apply the mixture onto your face for ten to 15 minutes – and for best results, the whizz advised to incorporate this to your skincare routine two to three times a week.

”This has been working well for me, I have been using this so for long.”

”This can help the skin from getting darker and getting pigmentation,” she explained in the caption.

Why does this work?

But what’s the science behind coffee grounds and honey for improving the dark skin under your eyes?

According to the lifestyle magazine Goss, caffeine is thought to improve blood circulation which, in turn, reduces puffiness and the darker colour.

Honey, meanwhile, adds a boost of hydration and moisture to the skin.

Licensed aesthetician Melissa Jannes explained that as a diuretic – medicines that help reduce fluid build-up in the body – the caffeine in the coffee grounds is indeed a remedy worth giving a go.

Dr Amit Bangia, Senior Consultant Dermatologist, Asian Hospital, Faridabad, added that ”coffee is also anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants, which means it reduces the damage caused by lack of sleep on the skin around the eyes”, Health Shots reported.

”Additionally, caffeine in coffee has the ability to absorb accumulated water and is extremely effective in reducing puffiness and swelling around the eyes.”
