Actress Regina Askia has come to the defense of activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, regarding the recent court judgment requiring him to pay Femi Falana and his son Falz N500 million for defamation. Recall that VDM released an audio recording of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, claiming he paid the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
Bobrisky also asserted that he served his six-month sentence in a private apartment rather than in prison. In the audio, Bobrisky claimed to have paid Femi Falana N10 million through his son Falz to clear his name from the records and request clemency.
Bobrisky denies these allegations, while Falana insists he never communicated with Bobrisky, asserting that the crossdresser contacted Falz instead.
Falana subsequently filed a lawsuit against VeryDarkMan and on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the court ruled in Falana’s favour.
Reacting to the ruling, Regina Askia took to social media to express her concern about the judgment, questioning why VeryDarkMan was ordered to pay such a substantial amount for defamation while no action was taken against the EFCC officials who received N15 million to drop the charges.
She said, “305,810.40 United States Dollars!!! for defamation in Nigeria? He has an oil well? He has a private jet to off load? Do you think this punishment is cruel and unusual or does it fit the crime? What is the focus? This guy’s reformation or his destruction? Talk to me!
DM to pay = N500,000,000. What happens to the person who collected 15 million? What about the one who recorded the video? What about the one who told the story and the biggest one of all who is the purported god father?”... CLICK TO READ THE FULL NEWS HERE▶▶
