According to NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, “The agency’s sniffer dogs have once again proven their worth in uncovering ingenious concealment methods employed by narcotics traffickers.”
Babafemi disclosed that the operation, which took place on August 5, 2024, resulted in the interception of 2.32 kg of cocaine hidden in Ghanaian traditional kente materials destined for the UK at a courier firm in Lagos.
Furthermore, 10.494 kg of cocaine buried in heavy-duty pivot shafts heading to the United States were recovered at the same logistics company, bringing the total weight of cocaine seized to 12.814 kg.
“This is a masterclass in narcotics trafficking, and we are proud of our operatives for outsmarting the traffickers,” Babafemi said.
The NDLEA’s intelligence-led operation highlights the agency’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and protecting Nigeria’s borders.
