The Presidency has hinted that Senator Ali Ndume may be aligning himself with the growing opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be cautious of his loyalty....READ ORIGINAL & FULL CONTENT FROM SOURCE | READ ORIGINAL & FULL CONTENT FROM SOURCE...
This assertion was made by Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, during a Sunday appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
“Let me tell you today and I want everybody to hear, especially the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje. Senator Ali Ndume’s spirit and soul are with the coalition; it is his body that is in APC. He is already going,” Bwala declared.
“It is better the way (Nasir) el-Rufai did: just say I am leaving. You’d give more honour and credit to el-Rufai that he didn’t feel he could stay and be a snitch,” he added, suggesting that Ndume should openly declare his intentions.
Senator Ndume, a veteran lawmaker representing Borno South, had earlier criticised President Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State, urging instead that such action be focused on the worsening security situation and economic hardship plaguing the country.
Ndume’s comments came just hours after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a delegation of opposition figures, including former President of the Senate Bukola Saraki and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, to meet with former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna—a move widely seen as a strategic step toward consolidating an inter-party alliance.
Ndume also raised concerns over Tinubu’s political standing, stating that the President should be worried if former President Buhari is not in support of his administration.
The meeting in Kaduna and recent political developments signal heightened momentum behind the newly formed opposition coalition. The alliance, which allegedly includes major opposition figures such as Atiku, Peter Obi, and El-Rufai, was officially unveiled on March 20, 2025, with the stated aim of unseating the Tinubu administration in the 2027 elections.
