Atalanta’s plans for the summer transfer window have shifted dramatically following an unfortunate injury to striker Gianluca Scamacca. The Italian Serie A side may now block Ademola Lookman from leaving the club after Scamacca suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a friendly match against Parma. The injury is expected to keep Scamacca sidelined for at least six months, a significant blow for Atalanta as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Lookman has been in exceptional form since joining Atalanta two years ago, garnering attention from top clubs across Europe, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea. Although discussions regarding his transfer have intensified, no formal offers have been made. Atalanta had previously set a €70 million price tag on the talented forward, signaling their willingness to part ways with him.

However, with Scamacca’s lengthy absence, Atalanta is likely to reconsider their position. The club is aware that they need to maintain depth in their attacking options, especially with a UEFA Champions League campaign on the horizon. Unless they manage to sign a replacement attacker before the transfer window closes, it appears increasingly unlikely that Lookman will be allowed to depart this summer, reinforcing Atalanta’s need for a robust squad to compete effectively.
