Northern Governor Declares Ban on All Political Activities and Rallies, States Reason

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has moved to curb insecurity in the state by banning all political activities and rallies.

The decision was made following the recent security breach in Maru Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast, Media and Public Affairs, the ban is effective immediately.

The statement revealed that security agencies in the state have been directed to take action against any politicians or groups that fail to comply with this directive.

Governor Lawal emphasized that the political season has not commenced anywhere in the country, making this ban a necessary measure to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

The state has witnessed a surge in attacks by gunmen, locally known as bandits, who have been carrying out cattle rustling, mass kidnapping, and killings.

Unfortunately, none of the state’s 14 local government areas are free from insecurity.
