She made this statement following President Tinubu’s decision to acquire a presidential jet amid the economic hardship in the country.
According to Ezekwesili, there is no argument from Tinubu that will convince Nigerians to justify his “latest profligacy.”
She wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “No argument justifies the purchase of a 14-year-old Airbus plane by the @NGRPresident @officialABAT for his indulgence.
“No argument can persuade reasonable people to justify this latest profligacy.
“Continue with your obscene indulgence until the day your hungry citizens can no longer bear to sleep on their empty stomachs.
“I hope it is now evident to all eyes why they needed to “grab it, snatch it, and run away with it.”
“All that desecration of our democracy was to acquire power for nothing but a self-indulgent lifestyle at the expense of the people. Nothing else. How crass! Just look at the country and its people. One day shall be one day.”
President Tinubu recently travelled in the newly purchased presidential jet, which is said to be valued at N150 million.
The jet was purchased at a time when Nigerians are lamenting hunger and hardship in the country, coupled with an increase in fuel prices and a rise in food prices as a result of the removal of subsidies announced by Tinubu during his inauguration on May 29, 2023.
