Outrage as Edo state govt seals hotel owned by PDP chieftain

The government of Edo State on Tuesday sealed Eterno Hotels in Aiguobasinmwin, GRA, Benin City.

Politics Nigeria gathered that the hotel has been marked for demolition by the Edo State government.

A property belonging to Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hundreds of people in its employ.

The hotel also contributes immensely to the state’s hospitality and development plan.

While details or rationale behind the government’s decision to seal the hotel is still unknown, many stakeholders in the state believe that it may not be unconnected with the APC/Okpebholo underhand moves.

Sources privy to the activities in the state said the planned demolition is aimed at harassing and intimidating top members of the PDP in the state.

One of the sources who spoke on the matter called on the Edo State government to focus on delivering good governance to the people of the state.

The source said, “We urge the Edo State governor, Monday Okpebholo and his APC to focus on delivering their promises to Edo people—if any, and refrain from antagonizing opposition forces, as only through good governance can they win the hearts and minds of Edo people, not through intimidation, coercion and harassment currently perpetrated by the governor and his minions.”
