In Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, a young man identified as Victor James was brutally attacked on Sunday in the Samunaka community after he was allegedly caught in a compromising position with a woman said to be seven months pregnant. The woman is reportedly married to a well-known local businessman popularly known as Alhaji Bash.

Eyewitnesses said James was discovered in the woman’s home early Sunday morning, sparking rage among residents. In the mayhem that followed, he was allegedly doused with hot water and savagely beaten. He later died from the injuries sustained during the attack.

Residents of the area expressed shock at the level of violence, with some condemning the mob action while others debated the morality of the alleged affair.

Similarly, another man, identified as Victor Akpabio, from Ididep in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, met a tragic end in Akwa Ibom State under eerily similar circumstances.

According to social media reports, including a post by Facebook user Richard Pius, the victim was doused with hot water and severely beaten.

Esther, in her defense, was quoted as blaming her affair on her husband’s alleged sexual inadequacy, referring to him as a “two-minute man.”

Speaking to First News under condition of anonymity, an elder of the Ndua Erong community said:

“This is not just a matter of infidelity; it is a matter of human rights and the rule of law. No one deserves to die like that.”

and bring all those involved to justice.

The incidents have sparked an uproar on social media, with many Nigerians condemning the resort to jungle justice while others express conflicting views about morality and betrayal in marriages.
