1234. Department of State Services (DSS) Finally Apprehends Gang Leader Behind Abduction, Killing Of Calabar Professor  The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reacted to the recent terrorist attack on a community in Niger State, describing it as a national disgrace.

In a statement shared on his verified X account on Sunday, Obi lamented the continued wave of violence across the country and called for an urgent end to the persistent insecurity.

He stressed that Nigeria urgently requires an all-hands-on-deck response — one that is coordinated, capable and decisive—to tackle the growing insecurity that has become a daily reality for many citizens.

Obi expressed deep concern that, even at the start of a new year, killings and attacks remain widespread and unchecked.

He referenced the deadly assault on Kasuwan-Daji Market in the Domo community of Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, where more than 40 people were reportedly killed in a terrorist attack.

He also recalled other recent incidents, including the attack on Bong village in Doemak District of Plateau State, bandit raids on communities in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, and the New Year’s Day assault on the Unguwar Naino community in Katsina State, all of which resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.

According to Obi, these attacks reflect a disturbing pattern of violence that has become dangerously normalised.

He described the government’s repeated failure to guarantee the safety of citizens as shameful, noting that the impact on families and communities is devastating and immeasurable.

He emphasised that the protection of lives must remain the primary responsibility of the government and insisted that Nigerians cannot continue to accept the ongoing bloodshed as normal.1234.
