Peter Obi, the prominent Nigerian politician, has shared a poignant account of the last moments of veteran entertainer Onyeka Onwenu. Onwenu passed away on the night of July 30, after collapsing at a party in Lagos where both she and Obi were present.
In a heartfelt social media post, Obi described the distressing scene at the event. According to Obi, Onwenu performed a series of her iconic songs, including her famous track “One Love Keep Us Together.” Her performance was met with admiration, but the evening took a tragic turn shortly thereafter.
Obi recounted that after finishing her performance, Onwenu sat down, drank some water, and then suddenly collapsed. She was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, with Obi following closely behind. Despite the doctors’ best efforts to revive her, Onwenu was declared deceased after more than two hours of intense medical intervention.
