Maja Umeh, a former Commissioner for Information in Anambra State during the administration of Peter Obi is dead.
The former commissioner died on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Emergency Ward of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku-Awka.
Born on October 7, 1960, Umeh died at the 64 years, barely a few months to his 65th birthday.
The serving commissioner for information for Anambra State, Law Mefor, announced the passing of Umeh in a statement.
Mefor said, “It is with profound sadness that the Government of Anambra State has received the passing of Chief Maja Umeh, a former Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism in Anambra State.
“Chief Umeh’s contributions to Anambra State’s growth and development in his time were profound. His legacies serve as a reminder of the power of dedicated public service and community engagement,”he noted.
Some of the deceased associates and relatives including Prof Ken Nwogu, the husband of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice for Anambra had visited the hospital were his remains was lying.
Also among the visitors include the current governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo.
