While initial reports stated that 47 people were killed during the attack, a source within the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said more bodies were being discovered by community members who were on a search and rescue mission for residents.

Residents of the community were said to have scampered for safety in nearby bushes following the attack by the gunmen who invaded the village and shot sporadically at residents who were said to be running for their lives.

This particular attack comes barely one week after some armed men invaded five different communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of the State. Over 50 people from the communities in Bokkos were also killed by the gunmen.
