Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson Slams Ned Nwoko Over Alleged Arrest of Regina Daniels’ Brother

Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has expressed outrage over the alleged arrest and detention of her goddaughter, Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Sammy West, by Senator Ned Nwoko.

According to reports, Sammy West was arrested in Lagos on Sunday and later transferred to Abuja, allegedly on the orders of Nwoko. His arrest reportedly followed the public fallout between the senator and his wife, Regina Daniels, who had earlier accused him of domestic violence and filed for divorce.

Sources claim that Sammy’s arrest is connected to the ongoing marital crisis between the couple, which has drawn widespread attention across social media.

Many have accused Nwoko of using his influence as a lawmaker to intimidate members of Regina’s family, particularly her brother, who had openly supported her decision to leave the marriage.

Reacting to the development, Mercy Johnson, who is regarded as Regina Daniels’ godmother, took to her verified social media page to question the fairness of the Nigerian justice system and condemn what she described as “a clear abuse of power.”

In her statement, the actress wrote: “The worst form of injustice is pretended justice. A child was arrested, and no one has been allowed to see him for two days.

He was flown from Lagos to Abuja and is allegedly being taken to court straight from the airport. How did we get here? Nigeria… Wow.”

Her post has since sparked widespread reactions online, with fans and fellow entertainers expressing concern over the alleged misuse of authority and the continued silence of law enforcement agencies regarding the incident.

The controversy comes just a week after Regina Daniels took to social media to expose what she described as years of domestic abuse in her marriage to Nwoko.

The actress revealed that she had endured emotional and physical trauma in silence but could no longer continue. She also announced that she had filed for divorce and was determined to protect her children from further harm.

Following her revelation, several celebrities and activists had voiced their support for her, urging the authorities to ensure her safety and that of her family. However, the arrest of her brother has further deepened public outrage and drawn more attention to the escalating crisis.

Meanwhile, Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels, has also raised alarm over her son’s whereabouts. In a separate post, she accused Nwoko of using his political power to oppress her family and demanded that her son be released immediately.

As of press time, there has been no official statement from Senator Nwoko’s camp or the Nigerian Police regarding the circumstances surrounding Sammy West’s arrest.

Observers have described the situation as another test of Nigeria’s justice system, especially concerning cases involving individuals with political influence.

Mercy Johnson’s bold statement adds to the growing calls for accountability and transparency in the matter. Many fans have praised her for speaking out, noting that her intervention could help draw more attention to the alleged injustice faced by the Daniels family.

While Nigerians await clarity on the situation, the case continues to dominate conversations across social media, with calls mounting for the immediate release of Sammy West and a fair investigation into the matter.
