Presidency Denies Claims: Tinubu Not Meeting Trump’s Running Mate JD Vance Over CPC Blacklist

The presidency has dismissed a report that President Bola Tinubu is visiting the United States to meet with the President Donald Trump’s Vice, DJ Vance.

Naija News reports that a story credited to SaharaReporters had disclosed that Tinubu is set to travel to the United States on Tuesday for high-level diplomatic engagements with the US government.

Tinubu’s trip is in the midst of a fraught dispute over allegations of mass killings of Christians in Nigeria and threats of military action from Washington.

Presidential sources told SaharaReporters on Sunday that Tinubu will be in the US on Tuesday for “top level” talks. The sources added that US President, Donald Trump, has delegated his vice, James David Vance, to receive or meet with Tinubu during the visit, subject to any last-minute changes.

However, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, in a post via 𝕏 on Monday, described the story as fake news.

According to Ajayi, if President Tinubu is to visit the White House, he will not be meeting with the Vice President.

The post read, “There is a Sahara Reporters story that President Tinubu is going to the US on Tuesday to see US Vice President J.D Vance. That story is not true. I can see that the fake news by Sahara has become the basis for some uninformed commentaries since yesterday. If President Tinubu is going to the White House, he won’t be going to see a Vice President.”
