Record Applications: 400,000 Chase 50,000 Police Jobs After PSC Deadline Extension

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has extended the application deadline for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks, following an overwhelming public response.

According to a statement from the commission’s spokesman, Torty Njoku, over 400,000 applications have been received since the portal opened in December 2025. The new closing date is February 8, 2026.

The extension aims to address significant disparities in application numbers across states, with low participation noted in Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra, to ensure more equitable nationwide representation.
