The state chairman of the party, Hon. Sunny Wokekoro, who spoke to journalists on the presentation of the 2025 budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly by Governor Fubara, said the 2024 budget had been beneficial for the people of the state.
Hon. Wokekoro stated that by increasing the state’s internally generated revenue, Governor Fubara has demonstrated leadership, tact, and expertise that is boosting the state’s resources without leading it into unnecessary debt.
He said, “As the major opposition party in the state, we are pleased to note that under the leadership of His Excellency, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, our internally generated revenue has improved significantly from almost nothing to 100 billion in a short period of time.”
“We also acknowledge the impressive and aggressive developmental projects undertaken by the state government without borrowing any funds, a departure from past practices.”
“We commend the Governor and congratulate him for presenting the 2025 budget to the House of Assembly, led by the Right Honorable Victor Oku Jumbo.”
Hon. Wokekoro further stated that with the significant changes witnessed in the state under Governor Fubara’s prudent leadership in the past year, he is confident that the 2025 budget, titled “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,” will drive further human and capital development in the state.
He noted that, “We are very optimistic that 2025 will bring better projects and management of our resources, based on his frugal management in the previous year.”
