The recently sacked Chairman of the Ikwerre Local Government in Rivers State, Dr. Ishi Samuel, has threatened that Ikwerre people will “take revenge” against the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for allegedly recruiting criminals from prison and cults from creeks to attack the people of the local government area.

Samuel in a video on social media accused Governor Fubara of recruiting criminals and cultists from prisons and creeks across the state to invade local government areas in military camouflage and police uniform and destroy properties, while attacking the sacked council chairmen and their supporters, particularly in Ikwerre.

He said they (chairmen) worked for Fubara to become the governor of Rivers State, noting that the governor would face their reactions at the appropriate time (when he completes his tenure as governor) one after another.

Samuel said Governor Fubara “has ordered all the thugs he has recruited, those he brought out from prison, those he brought out from different creeks, those he has called to come from different areas where they are committing crimes to come back and invade council areas. Most importantly, they said that they will invade Ikwerre Local Government tonight.

“Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff of Siminalayi Fubara and his co-travellers like the land grabber they call Chijioke Ihunwo and all the rest are moving from local government to local government, that the new plan now is that they are coming in military uniform in a company of a young man called Henry Odu from Alluh who is doing military business.”

He further said “We are aware that as at four days ago, he (Henry) has hired 20 Hilux and Prado Jeeps that this night (Tuesday night), they are coming with men dressed in military camouflage and police uniform to come and unleash mayhem on the Nigeria Police Force.

“We have heard that in Omuma, they have attacked the Nigeria Police Force. We are asking the Inspector General of Police to please redeploy DIGs because it is clear that our CP is becoming overwhelmed with the current crisis.

“We don’t run away from people. We told them we don’t wear jeans. We tie wrapper. Mr. Governor, you swore to an oath to protect the lives and properties of Rivers people, especially the Ikwerre Local Government. How come you are falling from your mighty horse to come to a level of hiring cultists and criminals with your chief of staff to attack local government chairmen?

“But don’t worry, the full law will take its course at the appropriate time. You may have immunity today, but don’t forget, a few months from now, the current governor of Edo state will become a former governor.”

Samuel stressed, “Every crime you commit against Ikwerre people. Every life you destroy, every property you destroy, everything you do, you will face the reactions at the appropriate time one after another.

“We have young men like you. We have children like you have. We have no other place than Rivers State. You can come and bulldoze all we have. You can come and seize all our properties.

“But because we worked for you to become the governor of Rivers state, even the spirit world has given us authority to take our benefits from you. When you bring your men in military and police uniform to kill us, everybody you kill will be registered in your name.”

Samuel, who is one of the loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has since Monday when Governor Fubara announced the sack of the 23 local government areas chairmen following the expiration of their three-year tenure, made several allegations against the governor, including that Governor Fubara had brought back insecurity in the state.
