The Nigerian Senate has postponed its earlier resumption date of April 29, 2025.
An internal memo signed and addressed to all senators by the clerk, Andrew Nwoba said the new date for the resumption of the 10th Senate is now May 6.
Recall that the lawmakers had embarked on a recess on May 27, after the Senate plenary was adjourned to enable them to observe the Easter and Eid-El-Fitr holidays.
Nwoba said the shift in the date of the resumption for the lawmakers was due to the May 1, International Workers’ Day public holiday.
He also said that the postponement will avail the senators enough time to attend their major constituency engagements.
Neoba said in the circular, “Distinguished Senators, I am directed to inform you that the resumption of plenary sittings of the Senate, earlier scheduled for Monday, 29th April 2025, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, 6th May 2025.
“This postponement is made to allow Distinguished Senators to stay with their constituents during the International Workers’ Day public holiday in the first week of May and to further enhance constituency engagements.
“Distinguished Senators are kindly requested to take note of this postponement while regretting any inconvenience the change might have caused.”
