Shockwaves in Venezuela: Maduro’s Son Calls for Mass Protests After US Capture

In an audio message widely circulated on social media and confirmed by aides, the 35-year-old congressman vowed that supporters of the deposed leader would remain defiant.

“You will see us in the streets, you will see us by people’s sides, you will see us fly the flag of dignity.

“They want us to appear weak, but we will not show weakness,” Maduro Guerra declared.

Maduro Guerra, who is one of six individuals, including his father and stepmother, Cilia Flores, accused by US authorities of narcoterrorism, issued the call amid rising tensions in Caracas.

The seamless and rapid nature of the US operation that captured Venezuela’s president from a secure hideout in Caracas has fuelled speculation of an internal betrayal.

“History will tell who the traitors were, history will reveal it. We will see,” Maduro Guerra hinted, echoing growing public suspicion of a mole within Maduro’s inner circle.

Maduro Guerra is the only biological child of the former president, who adopted three children from his wife, Flores.

Despite the upheaval, the younger Maduro expressed optimism that the revolutionary ideology of Hugo Chavez, known as chavismo, would endure.

Some loyalists took to the streets of Caracas on Sunday, waving national flags and holding posters of the ousted president. Demonstrations were largely peaceful, though emotions ran high among the crowd.

Just hours after being captured in a pre-dawn raid, Maduro, 63, and Flores, 69, were transferred to a New York jail, where they await legal proceedings.

Maduro is expected to appear before a federal judge in New York at noon on Monday to be formally notified of the charges against him.1234 He Is Definitely Not Happy I’m Still In Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – Wike Replies Oyo State Governor Makinde
