Speaking at the Defence Headquarters on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Abuja, organized by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, Nandap stated that persons who are in the Diaspora, would be arrested upon arrival in Nigeria.
Nandap said, “We have Diaspora sponsors, they are on our watchlist. They are watchlisted, any attempt they make to come into the country, we’ll be notified and they will be picked up and handed to the appropriate authority.”
As a result of the protests, the immigration service has deployed several officers to the land borders and airports to monitor the entry and exit points of the country.
She asserted that the agency has also improved its surveillance to prevent foreign intervention in the country.
The Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Yusuf Bichi, said the agency had identified some sponsors of the nationwide protest, but failed to provide further information on the issue.
Bichi, who was represented at the meeting by the DSS’ spokesman, Peter Afunanya, revealed that some bank accounts have been blocked, and it was discovered that the individuals operating the accounts are residing outside the country.
