Stalled Dreams: Musa Questions Nigeria’s Club World Cup Absence

Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa, in a Facebook post on June 21, said watching African clubs at the FIFA Club World Cup left him questioning Nigeria’s football progress.

According to Premium Times, he called for structural reforms, better funding, and stronger officiating, stating that stalled dreams like Nigeria’s must be urgently addressed.

Musa said clubs like Al Ahly and Sundowns show what Nigerian teams could achieve with structure.
He criticised poor organisation, lack of investment, and absence of Nigerian referees at elite events.
NPFL chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye praised the 2024/25 season’s progress, citing referee quality and broadcast milestones.
Musa insisted that talent alone won’t carry Nigerian clubs to the Club World Cup without reforms.

Stalled dreams are not just about missed matches; they reflect what happens when potential is applauded but not protected. Musa’s frustration is shared by fans who know Nigeria can compete but keeps falling short.

When was the last time you felt a dream of yours became a stalled dream, not from lack of talent, but from broken systems?
