Tension in House of Reps as Lawmakers Clash Over Emergency Rule in Rivers

A heated debate broke out in the House of Representatives on Wednesday as lawmakers clashed over President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State.

The lawmakers engaged in a shouting match even before the session officially commenced.

In a video trending online, two female members of the House were seen engaged in a fiery confrontation.

The emergency rule, announced by Tinubu on Tuesday, suspends Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months. The move was justified by the president as a necessary step to restore order amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.

As part of the emergency measures, Tinubu appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Administrator to oversee the state during this period.
