Blueprint reporter gathered that thugs bearing dangerous weapons burnt tyres and blocked the busy Nyanya – Keffi road.

Hoodlums who infiltrated the protest also burnt down a police post at check point, the boundary between Abuja and Nasarawa state.

The shops and markets were closed as traders hurriedly closed for fear of their businesses being attacked by the violent protesters.

Our reporter observed that commuters were stranded as taxis and tricycle drivers also scamper for safety.

Speaking with our reporter, a commuter who simply identified himself as Kunle, told our reporter that he trekked for more than five kilometres from Nyanya to One Man Village in Karu LG.

He said the thugs snatched innocent citizens’ phones and vandalized many shops.
Another commuter who identified herself as, Jenifer Shekwoza, said she paid over one thousand Naira from Nyanya to Masaka. A journey that ordinarily cost her 300 Naira.

As at the time of filing this report, heavily armed security personnel comprising soldiers, police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have been deployed to quell the violence.
