“The efforts being made by President Bola Tinubu to tackle food insecurity in the country are already yielding results,” Ashiru stated in Abeokuta on Tuesday when 200 Southwest farmers were trained in irrigation farming by O-ORBDA.

He said Tinubu is working towards ending food scarcity and improving agricultural practices in the nation.

According to him, Tinubu’s efforts are tailored to make the narrative of hunger a thing of the past in the country.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the training, Ashiru disclosed that the programme was part of the President’s efforts in job creation and food production in the agricultural sector.

Ashiru stated, “You all know that one of the major agendas of Mr President is food security—ensuring that food is available across the country. The idea of WUA is to have farmers organised into groups. The critical role of WUA is equitable water management and encouraging partnerships to enhance agricultural productivity.

“Today, we have selected 200 farmers across the Southwest under the catchment areas of O-ORBDA. We are also partnering with the Ogun State government under Gov. Dapo Abiodun to enhance the productivity of our farmers. After the training, the successful farmers will be provided with necessary agricultural and irrigation items to complement the skills they have acquired.”
