U.S. confirms military boots are on the ground in Nigeria

U.S troop have been sent to Nigeria, according to the U.S Command for Africa.

This was confirmed by the head of the U.S. military’s Africa Command, AFRICOM, General Dagvin R.M. Anderson, who told reporters that they dispatched the team following an agreement between the two countries.

This comes months after the December 2026 airstrike on the instructions of President Donald Trump.

There were also reports that the U.S. had been conducting surveillance flights over the country.

“That has led to increased collaboration between our nations to include a small US team that brings some unique capabilities from the United States,” Anderson said.

He, however, did not provide further information about the mission.
