Ferdinand said the 17-year-old is on another level to any player in the top five leagues in the world.

The Englishman believes the Spain international is already the best player in the world at this moment in time, describing him as a pure talent.

In a tweet on X after Barcelona’s clash with Inter, Ferdinand wrote: “As a pure football talent I’m going as far as to say I think Lamine Yamal is on another level to any player playing the game in the top [five] leagues in world football.”

DAILY POST reports that Inter Milan raced into a two-goal lead early in the first half of their Champions League semi-final first leg tie against Barcelona.

Marcus Thuram got on the scoresheet within 60 seconds, before Denzel Dumfries doubled the visitors’ advantage with a stunning overhead kick.

But Yamal pulled one back, before Ferran Torres ghosted into Inter’s defence to equalize before half time.

The Serie A champions took the lead again through Dumfries’ header from a corner kick.

Raphinha then saw his long-range effort bounce in off Yann Sommer to level the match again.

The return leg will take place next week at San Siro.
