The 29-year-old scored deep in stoppage time as the Scottish giants earned a crucial draw in the first leg of the tie at the Arena Lublin, Poland.

Andriy Yarmolenko gave the home side the lead in the 36th minute before the former Cremonese man pecked them back in the 94th minute.

Speaking in a post-match reaction, Dessers, who has come under intense criticism by the Gers fans stated that he remains focused on helping the team.

“I don’t have to answer people, I’m just doing my job for the team, for the manager, and for myself.

“That’s the only thing that matters,” Dessers was quoted by BBC.

“It would be nice to get more recognition for what you do, but I get the recognition inside the building and that’s most important.

“There are always reactions from the media or from a small part of the fans – but the bigger part of the fans gave me a lot of support and a lot of love.”
