Barcelona will begin their 2024-25 campaign with a trip to Valencia on Saturday, but fans still have no idea whether or not some of their players will be able to feature.

Barcelona’s financial situation has been well-documented, but the short of it is that the club does not have enough salary cap space to register some of its first team players.

They include Dani Olmo, who completed a £51 million move from RB Leipzig last week after helping Spain to win Euro 2024.

Inigo Martinez, Vitor Roque, Pau Victor and Pablo Torre are all currently not able to play in La Liga for Hansi Flick’s side.

Contrary to some reports, defenders Eric Garcia and Clement Lenglet can play as players returning from loan spells are automatically registered with La Liga.

Despite their situation, Flick wants to bring in some last-minute reinforcements including a left winger and potentially a right-back.

Barcelona need to raise funds and cut wage spending in order to register more players, and there are three players they are looking to offload immediately.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish giants are looking to ship out Mikayil Faye, Clement Lenglet, and Vitor Roque in the coming days.

20-year-old Faye struggled for game time during Barca’s pre-season tour in the USA, and was not given a squad number for the Joan Gamper Trophy defeat to Monaco earlier this week. Inter Milan have shown interest in the youngster.

Lenglet, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, is under contract until 2026 and is earning a gross salary of €16m a season.

Barca’s sporting director Deco reportedly met with Lenglet’s agent to discuss a departure, which looks likely to be a loan deal. Even a temporary exit would save funds if Barca only have to cover part of his wages.

Flick is keen to keep the Frenchman, but he understands the need to get his salary off the books.

Vitor Roque only joined the club in January, but coaching staff feel he is well below the level required.

Barcelona will look to recoup at least the €30m they spent on him, with Sporting Lisbon, Everton and Bournemouth interested.

According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Barca rejected an opening offer from Everton worth €25 million plus €3 million in add-ons.
