SP Garba was en route from Gumau to Magama Gumau town to attend his own wedding Fatiha when the accident took place. Sources revealed that the DPO was driving a Mercedes vehicle with two passengers on board when he reportedly struck a pothole, lost control of the vehicle, and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with a stationary Opel Astra. The Opel had been parked while its driver attended to his farm nearby.
The impact caused the Mercedes to somersault into the bush, leaving all occupants critically injured. Both SP Mustapha Garba and another passenger, 45-year-old Shaaibu Cheski from Gumau town, succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Toro. Two other victims are currently undergoing medical care at the same facility.
