Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde met with ADC leaders David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola in Abuja as part of a political realignment aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027. The meeting included Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Rotimi Amaechi.
However, the Nyesom Wike-backed PDP faction dismissed reports of any alliance, stating that the party “has not held any meeting, formal or informal, with the ADC.” The opposition leaders also protested at INEC, demanding recognition of the David Mark-led ADC leadership.
Key Points:
The opposition alliance agreed in principle to work on a common platform.
A source said they resolved to “prevent a one-man or one-party state.”
The choice of platform (ADC, PDP, or another) will be decided later.
Wike’s camp insists the PDP is focused on its internal processes.
The ADC has now splintered into at least three factions.
